Ako Hiko toolkits 2019

 Ako Hiko Tool kits 2019

On Tuesday the 28th of May, a handful of students from Waikowhai Primary School and a bunch of other schools went to Hay Park School for the Ako Hiko student led tool kits.  This is held every year in a school in the Ako Hiko cluster, which has six schools in it. The toolkit presentations were held in the different rooms in Hay Park School: Room 9, Room 6, the Library and the Hall. Some of the names of the presentations were quite interesting, like 'Sphero heroes'. The ones that I chose to go to were Sphero heroes, Google drawing art and Stop!Go!Animate! (I did not come up with those names by the way if you think they're weird).

For Sphero heroes (Interesting name), we had to use code to control the sphero, draw lines as directions as to where to make it go, and use drive, which is basically like a remote control. At the end of Sphero heroes, the presenters created a racecourse for the spheros to race on, and we had to use drive to get our teams sphero to the end of the track. I nearly came first in the race, if my sphero didn't crash and go off-course near the end of the track. For Google drawing art we had to make pictures on google drawings using the Polyline tool to mark around the lines on an image. For my image I chose a panda because it had a quite basic body design so it was easy to copy and also it was symmetrical so I could just copy and paste legs and eyes. For Stop!Go!Animate!, we had to create a stop-go animation, which was kind of easy because I just took a few pictures that seem to go into one another so that when played at a certain speed it looked like frames of animations. The animation I created is below (please don't mind the hand, it's just a mistake).

Blog ya later!
